Title: Sri Lankan Chillies
Post by: Magnolia on January 21, 2008, 16:29:40
I have seeds from chillies I brought back from Sri Lanka.  The chillies were dried and are 2 years old.

Do you think it will be possible for them to germinate?  Or are they too old?

You never know until you try.  I routinely grow out seed that is a year to even four years old and generally have good germination.  All depends on how they have been stored really.

No harm in trying though.

What do they look like? (the chillies, not the seeds)

Bearing in mind they are dried - red, long (about 2 inches) thin now dried.  And hot!

Sowed 6 seeds - after 14 days the first one has germinated.  Please that I tried.
