It's been a good day..... ;D
Just as I was starting to worry about how many seeds and potatoes we were buying considering our continued lack of plot and our very small garden we've been given our first allotment!!!
We've be massively lucky, no horrible rubbish to clear, some very handy existing bits and bobs and it's far bigger than we were expecting too. Not bad at all!
To save writing too much in two places there is more info along with a load of pics over on our blog so hope you'll pop along and share in our happiness.

yet..... this is gloucestershire... ;)
A nice layer of muddy silt would be a good top dressing in January, but a real pig in July!
:-X
Nice one, sounds like youve been really lucky! Bet you cant wait to get going with it.
We got our first allotment in Nov 07 and its totally covered with weeds, carpet, glass, beer cans and loads of other rubbish. To be fair they could have at least give us a free few months for clearing it up!! :-) Ah well, all good exercise I suppose.
Congratulations and good luck mate.
Great. Just in time for planting season. I bet many an allotmenteer would love to have taken on their plot in such good condition
Good luck Chap's and Chap'ess
I have just come that tunnel myself, just had some seed spuds delivered for me to bring on and plant out although we don't eat spuds ourselves, hope to get some more heavy spade work in this week :)
All the best. Now the fun begins, enjoy yourselves, By the way very good blog
WELL DONE TO BOTH OF YOU , HOPE YOU BOTH ENJOY EVER MINUTE ON YOUR LOTTIE LIKE I DO, DOWN HERE IN GILLINGHAM KENT GOOD LUCK FROM DIGGER46.
Very BIG congratulations cuke, just posted on your blog but thought I'd reply on here too. I'm as green as hell at you getting such an amazing plot!!! Best of luck for the rest of the growing year. ;D
Many congratulations!
Crack open those seed catalogues, if you thught you were capable of overbuying before...well now there's no stopping you. It's important to remember that your -lot can easily hold at least 10 acres worth of produce......or maybe thats just my approach!
Pictures look great, sure you will have lots of fun,
Dee Bee
Thanks everyone! ;D
Couldn't sleep last night with my brain spinning around full of plans. Can't wait till next weekend (assuming it doesn't rain too much) so we can spend out first bit of real time up there and make a start on what we want to do.
Next step though it a step into the scary world of FreeCycle in the hope of finding some tools (broke my only spade at the end of last year so need to replace that as well as get things like forks, hoe etc etc!) and some timber to mark out the beds/paths. Failing that I guess I'll be asking where other people get cheap tools and timber... so be prepared for my questions lol ;)
car boot time soon, Cuke..you can get some really good, old tools there, better than some of the newer ones ;D
Cuke Congratulations
Very excited for you, seems like you have been waiting forever. Lets hope the weather is kind to you so you can make a start :)
Well done to you both, exciting times ahead, looks like you'll need some new water butts as yours seem to be full, hurry up and open the box as I'm dying to know whats in there, maybe its the last lottie owners nagging OH ? :o ;D ;D ;D

lmao... now there's a thought.... ;)
We've asked the allotment man if he can enquire about the keys from the last holder as the little gate, covered tunnel and the box all have padlocks on. Of course we could cut them off but it seems a shame to do that. So, we'll have to wait a little longer to see what joys the box holds... :)
Might just be full of the tools your looking for. :o ;D ;D ;D
You need to make a trip to Cheltenham carboot on the race course Sundays. I bought nearly all my lottie tools there at amazing prices, most tools are available there and only a couple of pounds per tool.
