Title: Rules and Regs
Post by: micky g on July 06, 2004, 18:25:17

hi all,
Does anyone know if there is a common set of rules governing allotments, or are all local authorities different?

I have my name down for a plot in Dorset, hoping to hear some news in September.

Hi Micky G - there's a bunch of applicable law (there's a good resource on the Scottish Allotments and Gardens Society site; they maintain online copies of English, Scottish and Irish legislation, from Henry III's Forestry Charter of 1225 to the present - for anybody interested, http://www.sags.org.uk/HistLawAllot.php4 (http://www.sags.org.uk/HistLawAllot.php4)

Beyond that however - each local authority has their own subtly different set of rules; and then each allotment society has another set of rules and regs!!!!

Ah well!  Good luck with getting your plot, though - Gavin
