Title: Round Robin Swaps
Post by: Jeannine on January 03, 2008, 10:51:00
Hi I was reading on a US forum a few days ago ago about the variety of Round Robins and Secret Santa type things they do and it was fascinating.

Currently on the go is  Valentine one..a verything has to have a Valentine theme,eg Valentine beans, Rose Tomato and the very naughty Peter Pepper.

There is an Easter one in the planning too,  eggplants, crown of Thorns gourds etc,Lenten Rose.

I am curious to know if anyone here would be interested.

Other little treats are sometimes added in.

I think people just take alittle from each packet or multiple small packets are popped in rather thqan 1 big one.

I guess it is just a bit of fun, especially finding the stuff.

What do you all think

Sounds good to me. Another one to try would be 'Around the World' using seeds with place names, like California Wonder peppers, or Marina de Chioggia squash.

I wasn't planning on doing this myseld by the way, it  was just for interest and I would join in if anyone else wanted to try it

I am planning a usual one but it will be on another post, just going to put it on actually.

I suppose in order to widen the possibilities we could also have named types, such as French Beans (regardless of variety).

Okay Jeannine, you've convinced me - I'll do it. It's the least I can do after having so much fun taking part in the other swaps. I'll set up a new thread now.

Will post a new thread.

I did last year a tomato round robin with members of the tomato webside number one of america called www.tomatoville.com.I was the only one outside canada and the states.Result of that round robin was 80 new varieties and a lot of new tomato friends to talk too. This year they will start a new one and than the aussies are also join in and some from europe.I am already looking forwardtoo it.I would say have a look at that side it is one of the best sides, not only tomatoes but also other veggies.
