Bright and breeezy this morning, not through choice, a tincure or two would have gone down a treat last night, but the d**n medication is so strong, I was not allowed any. Still I learned my first mandolin tune and played Auld lang sine to the rest of the revellers. A week or so to my birthday, then I will make up for lost time.

Guilty as charged, only got up at 1pm which considering i went to bed at almost 3am is a good sleep!! And i have spent the last hour washing dishes though.

We had our dinner party and it went really well :)

9 adults and 1, 5 year old had a choice from the menu of

Starters
-----------

Scotch Pancakes with smoked salmon (wild) and horseradish creme fraiche
Warm Beetroot salad with goats cheese and rocket

Main Couse
---------------
Breton Chicken in a fresh mornay sauce with lardons, leeks (lotty) and parsley
Baked sweet potatoes with stilton and leeks
Sausage and Mash with tomato sauce (for 5 year old)

Desert
---------
Mincemeat, apple and soused apricot crumble tart
Banana, Baileys and brazil nut creme brulee
Stawberry Angel Delight (for 5 year old and he helped make it between the starter and main course)

followed by coffee and a selection of cheese and oatcakes

We started eating at 8 and we finished the cheesee off at 11.15pm :)

We managed to get though 24 small bottles of 1664, 6 large bottles of beer noel, 1 bottle of red wine and 5 bottles of white and 2 bottles of champagne (one for the toast and one for buckfizz there is some of that left and i will use that to make bread later in the week). On top of 2 pots of coffee and one of the guests did not drink :) And i had a pot of mulled wine on the stoke for when people arrived as it was cold out side.

I kicked everyone out around 2.30am :)

And i suppose the sign of a good party the pub a couple of doors down empted around 1.30 and a few people wanted to come join us :) We politly refused as we had no idea who any onf there were ;)

Hubbies gone to watch a football match, the house is empty and i have my feet up while i wait for nature to dry the dishes i have washed before i do the next lot :)

Now where did i put the chocolates  8)

Spent a great evening at a village hall where son and friend were putting on a disco evening. No expensive bars, it was bring your own so of course I took a bottle of brandy :).Chauffeured by no 2 daughter, arrived home at 12.45am then spent bit of time on here sending Happy New Year messages to people (was waiting for electric blanket to get warm).
Felt sort of OK this morning, have been next door to prepare veg for our evening meal.
All in all a great start to 2008.(HIC)

Great night had by 37 of us at local pub (we take over the restaurant). Champagne at friends house first, then all walk to pub for really good food with games. BW and I are usually the gamesmasters. This year we nominated 4 men to perform a magic trick each. (as per Tommy Cooper) complete with fez. Hilarious ;D ;D Then BW told the story of Cinderella, but the Roald Dahl Revolting Rhymes version. Everyone had key words to stand and do something stupid to. Easy to organise and very, very funny.
Started to feel crappy yesterday morning, but anesthesised myself with alcohol and felt ok when I went to bed at 3am. Going back to bed now, with wheatie bag and some Beechams.  :-\
