Title: Red Onions
Post by: powerspade on December 31, 2007, 16:44:17
I have been told that growing Red Onions can be a little tricky. I have just bought a pack of 100 set from B&Q ready fro the spring. Is there anyone who can pass me some tips for me to produce a decent crop. I have rich loan soil which grew peas last year, and I have spread compost over the plot.

There is nothing that makes growing red onions difficult. Starting onions from seed can be more difficult than using sets though irrespective of the colour..

No harder than white ones. Just don't grow them in the same area as onoins, garlic or leeks have been grown in before. Always rotate where you grow them in at lest a three year cycle. These ones are Red Barron grown from sets.
