Jekka McVicar is a herb guru and one of my gardening heroes. Her book on herbs is probably the only one you need ever buy!

My local Asda didn't have it , but found it in WHSmith for £7.99 - and also got  a Jamie at Home gardening notebook for £1.99. Really pleased as it has sorted a colleague's birthday present out - she got her lottie on the same site as mine in the summer.

I've readlots of good reviews of this book- shame our nearest Asda's a bit of a trek. Got Jekka McVicar's book for Christmas- the old edition- very good but the index is done by latin names which I find irritating and a bit pretentious!

One book that I find is excellent is The Gourmet Gardener by Bob Flowerdew. It was on cheap at 'The Works' before Christmas. Easy to understand advice on all aspects of veg, fruit and flowers [plus the pictures are good which, I'm sure, we all appreciate].

I've just joined this site on recommendation of a friend.  Although we don't have an allotment we have just moved house and I will be redesigning some of the garden to accommodate a fruit and veg patch, so need ideas, hints and tips.  I bought this book last week and thought it was an excellent bargain, stuffed with information, ideas, pictures, and also liked the growing timescales.

Mine came from Waterstone's - £7.99. It was bought before Christmas though, so it may have been a special offer. They always seem to have lots of discount codes on their website. Check it out.
