Title: Woodpecker gooseberry

Has anyone ever grown this or fascination ?  They were both mentioned in today's telegraph.

Haven't grown it, but according to this article, wow do Woodpecker gooseberries get to a size! nearly 2 oz !!!   http://archive.thenorthernecho.co.uk/2003/8/6/81848.html

What page?  I've rescued the Weekend from the recycle bag, looked through it from cover to cover several times, and even asked OH to look through, and we can't find any mention of woodpecker gooseberry.

That is only because the grower removed most other gooseberries from the bush.
According to the books such big gooseberries are nearly flavourless.

Hmmm, think I'd rather have smaller ones and more flavour. Anyhow, it's interesting to see how some folks can grow them big for fun though.
