I just found this in my diary:"Do not buy turkey - honest". I put it in after Xmas 2006, but I didn't make any recommendations to self about what to do instead.
Quite fancy goose - never had it before - but there's only two of us, so would it be ridiculous???
What do you suggest?????
rack of lamb ;D
I am cooking goose for only two of us.Even a big goose doesn't yeild tons of meat, lots of fat though which is great to keep for roasties, I get almost a pint from a large goose so I cook one now and again for that reason.
Enjoy XX Jeannine
Same with Confits de Canard - or similar!
Couple of Duck breasts & forget the washing up?
goose is fine for 2 as has already been suggested the fat runs off and the reduction in size is considerable but you get to use all the accessories as well
a gooseberry (no pun intended ;D) chutney goes very well indeed as it cuts through the succulent taste very well
I was going to suggest duck as well - or game.
Lidl have a goose breast in the shop now.
Must admit had goose last year and was disappointed as very little meat for the money but have had great roast potatoes all year with the goose fat.
Gone back to turkey this year! and a honey roast ham ;)
Right - goose it is then.
Thanks everyone.
We had a goose from Lidl last year - it was great. This year they have them again - a little dearer but still good value and less expensive than in the other supermarkets.
