Hi all,
I've recently become addicted to spring greens and the chickens go mad for them as well. Rather than wait to start sowing in late summer for spring harvest can I sow some in spring - or even late winter (ie soon) in the greenhouse?
Will they bolt with rising temperatures and longer days?
Cheerio.
Jon
Having a quick hunt round, Advantage and Pixie are said to be sowable all year.
MMMM, spring greens are my favourite!
thanks for this question jonny, and silverbirch of course!
Could you please clarify - what are spring greens?
kinda cabbigey- but yummier

Didn't the President of the RHS say something similar just the other day ;D
They're spring cabbages that you eat before they've hearted. I love them because they're a very early crop, and tenderer than the winter cabbages taht have been sat around for a while. Also, you can plant out much closer together, only about 6" apart. Then the thinnings are spring greens, the second thinning is hearted greens, and whats left becomes a spring cabbage.
Hmmm.... next stop DTBrown to find Advantage and Pixie!
