Saddad ,if you don't get your Chicago warted I have loads XX Jeannine
Thanks Jeannine, but I put them top of my list so I should be OK... do you have a couple of spare Triamble? The plant you sent me keeled over while quite young... I lost most of my Squash last year!!! Not even any Crown Prince in the shed!!
:(
Deb, When I read that " I woke up Grumpy" I thought you were talking about Andy!!! :-[
I do XX Jeannine
I ordered beans (climbing and french) and round peas.
Some of the seeds though are available commercially, I have for instance some Old Homestead already.
PS Saddad I am not a shift worker but sometimes can't sleep so either work, play spider solitaire or trawl the net.

I sent Rachel at HSL an email on the 7th Jan telling her my order was in but no seeds received as yet.
I was starting to throw my toys out of my Pram when Rachel replied
Quote .......
Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding your 2008 HSL Seed Request.
Unfortunately, a problem with our PO Box meant that we didn't begin to receive orders until 20th December, by which time there was a rather large backlog.
I believe that we cleared the last of the pre-Christmas arrivals on Friday and they were dispatched on 4th January. We do have a couple of orders here that arrived without a name or address label, making it impossible to send them out. However, these did not arrive until the new year, so are unlikely to be yours.
If you still haven't received your order by Monday 14th January, please drop me another email, listing the seeds you requested and I will arrange for them to be dispatched to you.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

What lovely people they are at HSL (and HDRA)
I can now sleep nights ;D
Thanks for this - mine haven't arrived yet - but also I didn't get the blank label to fill in so I made one of my own and attached it to the order.
I think I will drop them a note to make sure!
Also they seem to have charged me twice for membership this year - just got another invoice saying they have debited my account.
No sign of seeds either. Still, not expecting to sow any this month!
They still have difficulties with their PO Box. I posted a message over in the HDRA forums.
I re-sent my Seed order to HSL by email today.
they replied Quote .......
If you are mailing with regards to your HSL Seed Request could you please read the following important information.
We would like to apologise to anyone having trouble sending their Seed Requests to us. We are experiencing ongoing problems with Seed Requests sent to our PO Box number. The Post Office have returned some Requests to sender and others have been held up at the Post Office. At present we have no way of determining whose request is where. We are working to resolve the problem and hope to recover most of the Requests over the next few days, but it will take time to clear the backlog. If you have not received your seeds, or had your request returned to you, by Friday 25th January please contact us.

HSL have promised my seeds will be delivered within 2 days.
they appear to be in a right Muggers Buddle, through no fault of their own
the Post Office strikes again
Still not got mine either...
:(
I haven't had mine either and got the same reply - apparently their PO box was closed and they didn't know it. The post office are either sending the orders back to people if they have a retunr address or eventually getting through to HSL...but for some strange reason they go through Belfast first! ???
Anyway I have been told to resend my seed order if i get nothing by Monday. Can't wait that long and Ryton only 7 miles away so driving it down on Saturday - and will pick up groceries at the same time.
I have not sent mine in yet as it only arrived in the post this week. They gave an alternative address to send the orders to though so that is helpful.

Why don't you go on Sunday 20th for the Wassail?
Wassail - doesn't that involve hanging bread in tree's, pouring cider on the gorund (wot a waste) and, I almost cannot bring myself to type it........MORRIS DANCERS :o :o.
No offence to supporters of and participants of Morris dancing or any other folk related dancing, but the horsey thing scares me as it reminds me of the Wicker Man)
Also for Mikey - if you do get down try their red pepper and chilli sauce for pasta as a base for chilli con carne or veggie chilli - it's fantastic.
I also go a walk round their allotments basically to check that they arenot ahead of me and to reassure myself that my plots are as good, and its only me doing the weeding etc. ::) Weird I know - my other half says I am an anorak!
My seeds arrived yesterday - first 6 on list received. ;D
Seeds arrived this morning, the six I chose + the freebie packet turned out to be my No. 7 choice
am well pleased
I'm definitely going to sulk now!
:'(
I am still waiting too !
I have put my order through today and selected the following:
1. Tomato - Tibet Apple
2. Tomato - Buffalo Horn
3. Kale - Marrowfat Greens
4. Kale - Westphalian
5. Beetroot - Yellow Intermediate Mangel
6. Dwarf French Bean - Hutterite Soup
Assuming I get these as my first choice I am happy to share.
was passing Ryton today so called in ,those of us still waiting will be pleased to know that there were 6 large mail bags waiting to be
collected by the GPO, fingers crossed!
I hope one of them is mine. I took the order in on Saturday and the lady on the tills said she would put it behind the desk for the staff on monday. Have to say it was all I could do to stop myself asking if there wasn't a safer place for it. :D
By the way m rover, I have a sister living in Markfield and my parents live in groby so we can't be that far away!
Jesus wept! Nearly had a heart attack after just looking at the site prices. :o :o The subscription is more than my lottie rent (£25) I just do not see how forking out £36pa just to be able to purchase seeds. No justification for me... I just do not see any additional benefit. ::) ::) ::) Yes I have read about entry into certain events etc that I would probably never attend. Seed prices in my lottie shop are cheap as chips already.
Suzanne ,OH played for Markfield Rovers as a lad ! It was still a small village then with a quarry.
I remember using the quarry for climbing practice years ago.
my order was returned via the post office today.....PO box unknown 11/12/2007 so where has my order been for well over a month?
KT, I don't subscribe for the benefits, in my case it is to support the cause, I also subscribe to the French and US one. I think the seeds that are being saved and kept going are the rewards, the freebie packets are just a bonus.
By the way, for those folks who ordered Peacevine toms and didn't get them I have a few I can send out, let me know if they were part of your choices that you didn't get.
XX Jeannine
Mine arrived today!
Climbing French beans : Lazy Housewife & Purple Giant
Dwarf french bean : Early Warwick & Jersey
Pea : Champion of England & Lancashire Lad
and freeby climbing french bean Madeira Maroon.
I am well chuffed ;D
Jeannine, what's the French one? Does it work the same way?
The French one is Kokopelli and I am very new so still tying to get my head around it, there are seeds available to everybody, then there a thousands more varieties available only to members.
Anybody good at French can read it on www/kokopelli.asso.fr
There is a British connection,,paul somebody, I will try to find ouy the addy for you.
XX Jeannine
Well, my French is still very basic, but I'm taking classes so thought I'd join Kokopelli! 20 euros didn't seem that steep for a pretty impressive range. Now I just have to learn the French for all the varieties...
Is this an English version?
http://www.terredesemences.com/ (http://www.terredesemences.com/)
Yes that is the one you will find Paul on, but I think you have to go on the French one to join. XX Jeannine

If you use Firefox browser you can add the Fox Lingo toolbar which will translate any webpage for you!
barkingdog
Can you explain a bit more about this translation thing...in very easy steps, like where I can find it, install it etc Thank you Jeannine
Jeannine - google now has a translation thing, if you go onto the google main page and keep clicking on 'more' it'll come up with a big list of things it offers, and translate is one of them.
(or you could just go here http://translate.google.com/translate_t ::))

Hi,
The Firefox browser can be downloaded from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ once installed you can add plugins/extensions (extra software) to the browser, one of which is Fox Lingo which I mentioned.
The FoxLingo toolbar can be found at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2444
Let me know if you need any more help ;)

Like Jeannine ... I subscribe to support their work, especially 'saving' seeds which are being lost due to legislation and commercial pressure.
Also support RSPB and National Trust for same reasons.
National Trust we do view a few properties each year but the membership is hardly a money saver.
All just good causes ... in my humble opinion
Kokopelli have just joined, got a thankyou letter but no free seeds.
Maybe I have done something wrong on the French language Web site ?
highly likely ;D
Google translate is 'ace' some of the context comes out a bit 'pigeon English' but easily understood.

Hi all,
Don't know if you are aware of this already, but there has been a problem with some orders sent before Christmas. You will need to ring HSL 02476308226 and reorder if you sent your order in more than 28 days ago. I had my original order returned to sender on Friday :'(
Oh dear, I'll have to give them a ring then..... ::)
??? mine was sent back by Royal Mail ,address unknown on Friday, its taken a month to get back to me
I rang yesterday, there is a recorded message saying please reorder if you sent your form in before Christmas! You can leave your order on the answerphone , or email them. :-\ My original from hasn't been returned yet though...
I phoned yesterday too spoke to a lady who took my details and said she would phone back
still waiting.
I sent them an email.
I sent them an e-mail at lunchtime. I've just had a reply saying my seeds will arrive early next week & apologising. How about that for service?
A very nice lady returned my call re-took the order, here next week.
They are trying hard for damage limitation are getting all orders sorted asap, then they will have 'words 'with the
Post Office.
Apart from the tomatoes perhaps, most of the other seeds aren't in urgent need of being sown. At least that is something.
Which reminds me, best sort out some seeds for swapsies on Saturday.
The Heritage Seed Library, Tom, if you're not a member this won't affect you. It's part of Garden Organic.
Spoke to one of the HSL women whilst a Ryton on Saturday, she said a load of seeds were posted out on Fririday, so should be arriving this week. Sure enough, got my packet today; very pleased, I've got all my first choices and a lucky dip packet of 'Madeira Maroon' CFB so happy bunny here at last! ;D
Mine here too , now must sit on hands.
Mine arrived Saturday - got most of what I asked for.
I e-mailed after talking to them at Potato day and so should get them this week!
;D
I saw the lovely Rachel dash off and do someone's seed order almost there and then!
She offered but foolishly I hadn't taken mine... I E-mailed it last weekend and it arrived today... all my choices and the same lucky dip as Deb P CFB Madeira Maroon!
;D
I got Madeira Maroon as well. Looks like it did well in even last years bad weather so bodes well.
