I have been using mechanical diggers for at least 25 years without an accident,
until today. I was backing out of a tight spot when the ground gave
way one side. Over went the mini digger with me still attached, I swung
the bucket to stop it but was too late. It trapped me by the leg and after a bit of shouting
Tina the gardener came rushing over and tried to lift it. 2 ton of digger does not lift so she had to go
and get my truck jack and lift it enough for me to crawl out.
I have crushed my calf muscle badly, but no broken bones, OH is very annoyed that I nearly spoilt our
xmas holiday
As luck would have it she has just got the xmas decs out and there is a little bell amongst them, So I can
ring for room service. I bet she goes conveniently goes deaf.
sorry to hear about it, ace..mind you, it'll have some compensations, the bell for one ;D
Was that you ringing again Ace >:( can't you light your own bloody f*g. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Ace Thank goodness it wasn't any worse, mind you crushed muscle must be very painful. has it got to be a wheel chair holiday? Really hope you still manage to enjoy.
Lorna
(http://www.nt-cleaning.co.uk/clipart/ani_maid_brush.gif) will you stop ringing that bloody bell, we don't know if we're coming or going!!
Seriously, glad it wasn't worse and that someone was there to help you. Fingers crossed it won't be too limiting by the time you go away :)
Ace - thank heavens it wasn't worse. I'm not sure about the bell from the christmas decorations. Can't you find a ship's bell from somewhere - total rest and to be waited on hand and foot is what is needed!! You must be fit for your Christmas holiday - snow and wheelchairs don't go!
Blimey that could have been a lot worse!! I thought the bell was so you could ring it shouting "unclean, unclean!" ;D I don't know why I thought that as I'm sure a crushed muscle isn't contagious!!! ::)
Anaesthetise yourself with alcohol Ace, it's the only way. ;D
Ring the bell when you need a 'tinkle'.
Could have been a lot worse..
:-\
Yep, very lucky. Still, at least you'll have time to get to love that chandelier now. ;D
Big hugs from me honey, but be good , she might take your clapper out!! Take care and oh what a lucky person you , it could have been ............oh can't think about that. XX XX XX Jeannine

You ain't kidding, I have just ben going over it again and it makes me shudder to think about it. Still, should be reasonably fit by the time we go to Prague in 16 days 11 hours and 35 minutes,(not that I'm counting). OH has decided that the ipod she got me for xmas needs testing so she has earphones on, She nicked my bell, but I had a spare.

It's a good job we do not have a two fingered smiley :P
:o Sorry Ace; I read your post quickly and was looking for the punchline :(
Hope you get over it soon
xxx su
Ouch! Boy it must be fun in your house with all them bells and earphones........get yourself fit ACE, or you could always get some sled fixings for the wheelchair!
Crikey, the lengths some people will go to, to be waited on hand and foot !
Seriously, hope your leg is better soon.
btw, forget the bell, you need walkie-talkies !!! :o
take things easy ace, your a very luck man!
And you might want to pick up a lottery ticket just in case :)
ouch ace............get well soon!
Thank goodness it wasn't worse! Doesn't bear thinking about.
Get well really soon, you old Grandma-basher, you! :-*
Is the digger doing ok, I hope it wasn't damaged poor thing :-*
HUH! some people will do anything to get waited on hand and leg ::)
ACE most people just use a spade to dig their bean trench ;D No need to reach Australia buddy
Hope you get better soon ;)
Get well soon Ace, and take care with the walking in Prague :-* :-* :-*
Hi Ace,
As a lot of others have said - Could have been a lot worse - could have happened in Spring!!
Take care - hope you are already on the mend and have a great Christmas and holiday!
Old Bird
.....all together now....
"the bells are ring-ing.."
bloody hell ACE, don't know how I missed this....
Too bloody true that you had a lucky escape there; years back an experienced greenkeeper at our golf club wasn't around after to tell the tale, under circs.(tho not under a digger but a ride-on mower, you understand ::)) not unlike your own... :'(
So...all the best, matey, lie back, enjoy the enforced rest and get to learn to luv those chandeliers, as someone else has remarked 8)
Well I am up and about, after a fashion today. Not too bad but still extremely sore. Would you believe that if I sit on the sofa with my leg up, the most perfect height is a plastic bucket turned over. So it is a good job I have the proper ones
otherwise it might degrade before I am cured :P
Ain't it a shame that I cannot get out to buy her xmas present this year, mind you I could wrap up the new bag and belt I got her earlier, so at least the hover will be working .
She will be all right when we go to Prague (I was surprised she agreed to go too easily) They make bloody chandeliers there >:(
they make ashtrays anorl 8).......suspend a variety of these from the chandeliers wiv pulleys.etc...Heath Robinson Eat Yer Heart Out....xxxxxx

Bohemian glass is some of the best and beautiful in the world so don't forget to take the credit cards ;D
I wonder what else you could use those buckets for :P
Makes me shudder as hubby drives HGV and has been in a few ditches :P
He used to be soooo fast on a forklift !! Glad it was no worse and just think when your in Prague you will be fit enough to walk round miles of chanderlier shops ;D ;D
It's ya client i feel sorry for.....got to wait now till after Xmas till ya get the bloody job done. ;)
Well, I was just just finishing the job when the accident happened, so the girls can carry on planting, When we say we will do something, we stick to it. I was going to pack up for a month this weekend anyway. I have not been idle, planning the next job, ordering plants, doing accounts, writing my little gardening column for the local newsletter. I even visited a nursery today, a walking stick is great for pointing out plants.

We only have to ask ya wife. ;D
Woke up this morning, (sounds like a song I know) and the leg has reduced considerably in size. I have been scruffing about in my tracky bottoms, which I hate, so at last I can get my jeans on. The leg is still a very strange shade of purple and I will have to keep on limping otherwise the sympathy will dry up.
It is the start to a good day apart from a dentist appointment later :-X I shall now attemp to take her a cup of coffee in bed, now which leg do I limp on?
Good to here your on the mend Ace.
Glad your on the mend ACE.....Im sure you'll also be pleased to know Ive been trying to squish that darned fly at the bottom of your posts!! >:(
I was getting worried that it was actually in the puta screen......you b*ggar ;D ;D ;D
Its bloody good actually ;D ;)
I've got one of those on my website and I get a lot of complaints ;D
