Just reading on a veg site it says dig up swedes in November. If I pull my up I will end up throwing them away as I don't store veg very well. Do you think they will be ok to be left in the ground until needed?
thats wot i do wiv mine .
I begin to harvest my swedes from now on until january /February, I never dig them all up in one go but dig them up as I require them for meals. Swedes taste a lot better after a frost and they store better left in the ground.
Yes, leave in the ground until needed as Swedes are tough.
But if the soil there are in gets waterlogged for days at a time I would pull them up - anything will rot in those conditions.
Mine are staying put till needed. Some are still a bit small at the moment. Might need 2 for a meal...
Thanks for that they are staying there until I need them too. Few are small too. I agree I never thought swedes needed a frost but they tasted much sweeter after one.
