A lovely picture Carol. :D
Are they French Partridges?
Awwwww thats such a great pic ;D
Red Legged Partridges Pauline. Loads of them about here, being bred for shooting. Aaaaaah
:'(
Thanks Carol, we have the French ones here.

I have just looked up partridges on this website and it seems that the French partridge and the red legged partridge are the same bird. ::)

Just can't follow that! ;D ;D
Sorry :-[
Yes, I know they were the same, some folk call them RL's and others French. They were brought in from France for shooting, weren't they. The other Partridge is the Grey Partridge!!!
:)
What lovely birds, such a shame they are bred for shooting :(
Great photo Carol :)
Gorgeous pics! Seems a pity such an attractive bird is hunted for sport.
We also have the golden pheasant here - was introduced for hunting by English lords a century or so ago. Flushed a few of them when I was doing fawn tagging in the Phoenix Park a few years ago.
