Title: What - no Spam??
Post by: tim on November 17, 2007, 18:29:39
No - & no e-mails either!!

Been without since yesterday pm - "host cannot be found". Tried everything we can think of, with help from Son & Grandson, without success.

Dread to think of the Spam list if we ever get back in!!

Davy - remember that you're talking to an idiot here.

We have Firefox & IE - latter is default, I believe.

What e-mail? Does my address in profile give a clue??

As  the Sgt Major said when he stuck the end of his pace stick at the end of my nose and said "Theres an idiot at the end of this stick " and i replied " Yes sir, and its not at my end " God those Regimental square are big when you double pound them with a rifle above your head.

I have just emailed you Tim we will see if the demon mailer returns it.

Tim, Mailer demon has not returned my mesage so i guess it has gone into your main server. the one given in your profile so you will have to go there. Like me i am with Tesco .net so some of my email goes there.

Its not the end of the word, perhaps you have not downloaded an email destination. My home page is MSN so i use Windows mail and windows live mesenger.
No doubt one of the computer experts on here will help.

The pace stick remark was not worth it the square was followed by 1 Hours Pokey Drill now that did hurt LOL

Thought I'd lost my umbilical cord for ever but - for the moment at least - we're back!!

So my friends will not think that I've cut them dead.

Thanks for all the helpful response. Great forum?

your server or part of it was probably down for awhile, always best not to panic when this happens especially if you have done nothing to cause it

personally I think it is best to have an email destination apart from the one you access from your server or home page but then I'd probably tell you to get a Mac instead  ;D

Personally I do not like web mail or outlook express so I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my email client. The only thing that my Pipex Homecall webmail is good for is that it deletes spam before I get it.or you can download a free spam stopper for yourself.

We do have a filter, but it puts spam into a visible box, which is just as well because it occasionally includes wanted stuff.

Does junkanoo overcome that problem?

As to servers, the thing that threw me was that access was intermittent.

Everything's going like a bomb this morning. Sshh!!

Tim, with junkanoo you can make a white list and a black list, and only get what you want. As with all anti spam tools they have to go through a learning proces

Ah - very complicated!

My Spamfighter seems to have learnt reasonably well on its own but why, opening up on most mornings, does it fail to bin any??

you probably need to set your 'preferences' to tell it to do that - by not putting junk in the trash automatically avoids the problem of putting 'good' mail in as well - as can happen

I don't seem to get much junk these days. For forums and other webpages, plus newsletters, I use hotmail - thats the account I receive junk on but not getting as many (mainly money ones, not had body enhancements for a while).

Rarely give out my isp email addresses - one is associated with a couple of blogs and oTalisman games. Amazon fills up my university one (I should sort it out on settings).
