I am proud to boast about what my 6 year old daughter has done this week. She got the headteacher award for her words for why we have the poppy.
"Why we have the poppy. We remember those who were injured and those who have fallen in past wars. They gave their lives so that we are able to have our freedom and live the life we live. We also remember those who are continuing this today".
Then tonight she sat at the computer and asked to do some typing. When she had finished she had wrote the following:
AT CHRISTMAS TIME
We thank the lord we thank the lord
because he created the world.
He created the seasons he created the rain
he created baby Jesus.
Jesus rode on camels
to help the people far away.
Jesus helped the people
by bringing them food again.
People sing about God & Jesus
to celebrate what they have done.
We care for one another
from our hearts with love, that is strong.
Poem by A. Lawson (aged 6)
We are not proactive church goers, but I am so pleased all the same.
what lovely sentiments, kt..quite a grown up young lady :)
An amazing use of words and incredible understanding and observations from a 6 year old.
You have very good reason to be proud kt :)
Excellent... :D
Agree with honeybee.. you should be very proud.
gosh what a tallant.
I think father christmas should bring her a jornal for her to jot down her thoughts and any other poems and stories. A future famous writer i think :)
yes definatly encourage her to continue
Isn't it refreshing to read of a youngster doing something that comes from the heart. You must be sooooooo proud.
I think Cam's idea is a good one. Who knows where it might lead. A poet in the making, perhaps :)
kt, I work in aTri-Service unit and we prepare our servicemen and women to go off to theatres all over the world. Post your daughters poem in the newspapers, show them what our youngsters feel, it would really encourage these servicemen that they are doing a superb job and it is worthwhile.
Pat yourself on the shoulder, you are obviously doing a grand job as a parent.
Top of the cass KT. ;D ;D ;D
what a way with words.
i'd be pleased as punch KT. what a fanatstic job you've done bringing her up!
A very grown up head on little shoulders.......You obviously set a fine example KT, she's a real credit to you. Thats such a good idea to put in the paper....it would make her very proud too.
