Title: Party wear
Post by: Doris_Pinks on July 02, 2004, 10:10:12
Well, it is only a week away tomorrow, remember the 10th! So what will you lot be wearing? Am thinking of leaving the tiara at home this year, as it took me ages to climb the tree to get it back off the magpie, that pinched it last time! And will forego the stillettoes this year, as I kept sinking in the mud, mind you my firemen friends were very helpful at getting me out!
So was thinking of decorating my lottie boots, and wearing a nice summer frock with them.(I haven't got a nurses uniform :'( ) Straw hat, decorated with LARGE sunflowers, and my knee pads for when I fall over later. Will also bring wooly hat, gloves and thermal undies, as a camper in this country in the summer, I know how the weather can be COLD at night! Are we pitching tents or wending our own way home?
What will you be wearing, cos we don't want to be wearing the same outfits!

Cheeky! (Peter that is!)

I'm afraid it will be rather difficult for me too - getting a babysitter and all that. Have asked mum too many times.....

:'( I won't be able to come as I only have internet access at work. Don't even have a computer at home (well actually, we have two, but neither of them works and even if they did, they are far too old to know what the internet is!) And I'm certainly not coming into work on a Saturday!

I shall be there in spirit, though!

Well, I'm not really a tartan type Scot but I think my pipeband might like me to carry the colours so to speak, so maybe just a wee touch of tartan as in kilt, plaid, trews (under the kilt), sporran, scian dhu, and topped off by a nice tam o'shanter with a white c**kade placed jauntily just to the left.  Nothing ostentatious you understand.  Oh and a nice pair of brogues to walk in the mud but I'll bring my highland dancing pumps just in case someone asks me to dance.

Me thinks I'll wear a rubber Mac,
And nothing else at all,
It's bound to drag in all the mud,
'Cos I never grew so tall,
But if it rains then I'm alright,
My skin and things stay dry,
But if the sun comes out to play,
Then it's 'Ye-har...Hi-Di-Hi'!

A rubber Mac he said he'd wear
And underneath he'd be all bare.
To do like this he must be daring
For rubber is quite easy tearing.
With Nick he offered help to cook
The ladies will not dare to look,
As their scanty clothes go up in smoke ,
It may not be quite such a joke.
All eyes on them will surely turn
As all their bits they start to burn
They'll shout and scream and start to dance
Is this a Party by any chance?

I got to supply the BBQ too. :o Oh well I will have to borrow my mates ex military flamethrower to feed the five thousand. Or maybe that guy from over the water would help, heard he does wonders with a few loaves and a couple of fishes. Good with wine supply too. ;D Sorry old caterers crisis joke.

Well it has all gone horribly wrong :o Shrunk the summer frock in the dryer............well it fitted in the summer of 1976! My straw hat has been nibbled at by the shed mice, and the sunflowers that were to decorate it haven't even flowered yet, and to top it all whilst trying to attach the sequins, feathers and fake pearls to my wellies for tomorrow night, I have managed to superglue my left boot to my right hand. Does get in the way whilst typong!
Guess I shall have to scour the charity shops tomorrow morning for appropriate attire, will have to wear a very long sleeved coat to hide the boot.

Post by: Wicker on July 09, 2004, 19:19:08
Doris, if the boot is fairly clean could you not use it as a large drinking vessel with a very long straw?  Wouldn't have to worry about putting it down and someone "inadvertently" pinching your drink  ;)

whatever the costume I'm sure you'll retain your dignity... ::)
