Title: sprout tops

my sprouts are growing well and i am noticing that the tops haved formed almost small cabbages are they the bits that are good to eat if so how and when do i harvest them and do i just steam them as greens?

Never tried them but one of the fellas from the allotment say they are
the best part. So I will be trying them this year.

They're nice as greens.

Also if you leave a few sprouts at the bottom of the stem, later in early spring they shoot out giving you some more greens.

Also when harvesting cabbages, cut it off leaving the stem and a few of the leaves in the ground, they shoot out to - even more greens.

Yes - the best bit.

Let'em be till they are hearting well, but try to persuade the whitefly to go elsewhere - they really mess them up.

And if you don't like them, goats apparently adore them. Find someone with a goat and swap for some manure!

Nowt better than Brussels Tops.  Far tastier than spring greens, not that I'll get any this year as I didn't make my net frame high enough and those pesky pigeons have had them.
