Title: pink, pink everywhere...
Post by: aquilegia on July 01, 2004, 14:50:03
Non-plant rant...

I had a celebratory shop yesterday (not plants - clothes) and was actually fairly successful for me (I'm not good at buying clothes!) I managed to buy four tops (not the four tops, though!) and a pair of shoes for a staggering total of £42.50!

I would've bought more, but these days you're pretty much stuffed if you don't like pink and you don't like pastels. I walked past some young girls in one shop holding up some hideous thing cooing 'ooh - that's lovely'. I thought, I remember the 80s the first time round and now it's even worse. At least the first time it was original. Now it's just (vomit emoticon needed).

gawd I feel old.

Well done with the £42.50! I'm very impressed  :)
I know what you mean with the clothes shops though, I love clothes, but there isn't much around that I'd wear at the moment, love pink, but everything has bows or stripes or something yuk.  :-\
Could fashion please go back to the gypsy thing from a couple of years back - at least everything looked pretty and wearable!
Hope 80s big hair doesn't come back in to fashion too - that would be even worse!
At least it's not hard to stick to my all new very low clothing budget  :)

My favourite shop has sale starting tomorrow...preview day for valued customers. Buy anything? Moi? ......

Agree re retro fashion....it's when they can't think of any new ideas and bring up all the stuff we hated last time round...

CL - I'm a frustrated hippy really, so I'd be happy if they did the 70s again! (I was only a baby/toddler the first time around, so missed it really!) Although not all the nylon!

Moggle - I am the bargain queen. Half my clothes come from charity shops!

My husband would be proud of me if I managed to get four tops for just over £42. Aqui.

Just recently seem to spend my time in "Doesn't matter Clothes", (I remember "Topsy and Tim", even though my children are all grown up now).  Muddy trousers, T shirt and boots seem to be what I am into recently, but just bought a Chinese Coolie hat for the sunshine from Ebay, which I am dying to wear, though I will expect some comments from the Lottie Chaps.  I am afraid when I do wear lady clothes I tend to go for Monsoon and East.

Loved the hippy time - happy days, "Peace and Love"! Talking about peace and love, Husband and I actually walked home from Tai Chi today via the beach so we could pick some sea weed for the Plot.  Couldn't resist having a go of Some Tai Chi short form on the beach facing the sea, it was fabulous!  :) busy_lizzie

BL I also like Monsoon but they are expensive so it is on rare occasions that I get a shopping spree. Was my birthday last month so got a shopping spree in but had to restrain myself. I love what they have in at the moment. It's not often I get to wear pretty clothes (messy kids and gardening don't go well with nice clothes) so I really relish being able to look glam on a night out, which seems to be far and few between now. I didn't like the 80s fashions the first time around and don't like them any better now. I hope huge shoulder pads don't make a come back!

The only person to wear pink and/or Monsoon in our house is my daughter (age 2 3/4). I wear denim. Love it! Not for evenings though!

Me -day - denims or cuts offs, superannuated t-shirts.
Parties - I LOVE dressing up!!! Do investment dressing from sales, but have picked up bargains from New Look and catalogues. Fave is Ghost though, wonderful dress to be on parade later this month...CLx

Dressing up, whats that! And a night out!??!?!?!?!   If it isn't child/husband/garden/allotment proof, it doesn't last 5 minutes and as child/husband/garden/allotment use up any spare pennies I have, I never look terribly glam.  :-\

Oh E-J, hope you didn't find my comms annoying. Sad, but I'd have loved to have the kids (too much detail) but OH las to do some fancy parties so I so like to get 'scrubbed up' as they say in Oz....Clxx

Well BL, Christmas is special  :P  I wear most colours....except peach and green really.  I am a denim girl, or black, red or white.  ;D  I really want a pair of dead strappy shoes but I think the heels would sink into the ground at the allotment and I would probably break my neck chasing the kids around the supermarket!  ;D

Don't talk about heels! I bought a pair of georgeous boots with 3" heels last year. Wen't out for a civilised evening (rather optimistic considering two children in tow) The formula goes:

active 2 year old + mum in heels = catch me if you can!

moral of the story:

never, ever, ever, ever wear heels when you're out with your sprogs, trainers are a much better idea even if they look silly with a dress!
