The Big Dig is on UK TV Gardens at around 10pm(?) or repeated the next morning sometime (10am?).

It's great, but it's a couple of years old now and there was only one series so it tends to be on for a few weeks with an episode every day then vanish for a bit only to be repeated again.

I've seen every episode at least once now but it's still fun to watch now and then, but I'd love to see a new series either fiollowing the same two allotments or doing the same thing elsewhere.

A quick google found this...

Oh nuts!   Missed it last night!   Was yesterdays one the first episode?  Wish it wasn't on so late though.

I think its shown 4 nights a week (Tues - Fri) and then repeated again each morning so you can watch it whenever's easier, or record it. There's probably a link to the TV schedules for the channel on that first website I linked to if you want to check. :)

Unfortunatly it must be over half way though now as I watched one early last week and I don't think it was the first and the only made 10 episodes.

I wish there was more of this kind of thing around though, there's not many TV shows around for the Veg grower... :(

There was also a series about a competition to find the best allotments in the U.K. They seemed to have taken all the pictures in early Spring so there was not much to see in the way of growing crops.

The "Big Dig" programme features a writer who wrote a good book about allotments - "Close to the veg"; very much in the tradition of making sheds out of the wood from skips etc.

As for newspaper articles about allotments..... where do you start?!!

The Alternative Kitchen Garden is my podcast  :)

If there's any subjects you would like to hear on the show then by all means let me know. I also sometimes have guest presenters, so if you're passionate about something and have the ability to record yourself then you could be on the show!

Also, if you enjoy Terry Walton then  he's just started his own podcast 'Tales from Terry's Allotment'. You can subscribe via iTunes, but I haven't found a webpage for it yet.
