Title: Unread posts problem
Post by: asbean on October 29, 2007, 19:13:20
Is anyone else having trouble when they click on unread posts on the home page?  The last couple of days I've clicked on the link, expecting to see 2-3 pages of unread posts and getting only half a dozen.  I've just gone through all the sections of the forum and found over 30 unread posts, as opposed to 6 on the unread posts page.

Any ideas, Dan the Man???

Just to venture a question, do you delete your cookies regularly, as your site info may be recorded in the cookies?

Ah, I think I intended to imply the opposite, ie, cookies may indicate which posts have been read since last visit, indicating which are thus new ...

This ties in with my thread  "What governs the length of time for "Unread Posts"",  http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/index.php/topic,35712.0.html (http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/index.php/topic,35712.0.html),

I'm sure it gets imposed by a server side/elasped time/ thing - that can be based ( in part ) on the last cookie etc.

But the BB software maintains this.   If I get the time,   I'll look at the SMF site etc...

I will investigate, and see what I can find out.

Cheers
