anyone bought any crushed limestone in bulk before, does it cost much and where have you bought it from?
i've tried googling it but not had much luck
What do you want it for?
Laying a path? It`s readily available for that purpose from a builder`s merchant.
sorry should have explained better, it's to reduce the acidity of my soil
you dont need to buy crushed limestone, you can pick up a box of garden lime

Most garden centres stock this in other brands as well.
or use calcified seaweed - just as good
Whats your soil reading then Macca. ;D ;D ;D
You will probably find some in shops such as B&Q and it will come in 25 or 50 kg bags.
Go to the Builders section, the same stuff costs more in the gardening section.
The same applies if you are buying grit, sand and silver sand.
I prefer to use hydrated lime (the white floury type) I find it percolates into the soil better than crushed limestone. Plus because of its colour you can see if you have spread it evenly.

Crushed limestone lasts a lot longer than lime. If you want it for a specific crop, go for lime. If it's something long-term, it's worth thinking about the crushed limestone.
my ph ranges from 4-5 and i read that you shouldn't change it too quickly, i think i'll try the lime and limestone for different areas in my garden
thanks for the advice everyone
That's seriously acid; you definitely need to change it unless you're going for a very specialised plant collection!
