With winter round the corner thoughts turn to next year's crop. Im probably going to start browsing the online seed catalogues and get ordering today. Im particularly intrigued by the "real seed catalogue". Cant wait!
I love real seeds! Tim recomended Simpsons which are good too
mine came this week from Moles Seeds, if you order before the end of November you get a 6% discount, all there seed comes in vacuum sealed packs so No need to worry about the freshness of them.
I picked most of my stuff up in the wydale sale and from a USA rare seed supplier and my over wintering onions and garlic are already in.
Just need to work out what i am planting where, got as far as working out the crop rotation plan for the next 2 years so i have an rough idea whats going in each bed just need to break it down to a more percise planting plan.
PS - not wanting to be 2 anal about this but i am also going to program everything i need to plant into my outlook calander or MS Project so that i know what needs to be planted when, where and how long it takes to grow.
we're all ordering from kings through the seed scheme, the association gets a discount and an extra one if we order before mid november..mind you, I'll still be looking in wilkies etc next year ;D
pay day friday so I'll start ordering then ;D First time with real seeds, am really excited! I love this time of year, up at the plot yesterday clearing and planning and dreaming ;D ;D
Update - just ordered a small selection of seeds from real seeds. Ordered tomatoes, courgette, winter squash, carrots, leeks, and parsnips!!!! ;D
Brought seeds from the wyevale sale like alot of A4all members but i'm sure next year i'll want something I haven't got. ;D
I have already bought the bulk of mine, just a few to get from Kings.
I fell foul to the T&M sale a little while ago. I'm already thinking "What on earth am i going to do with this lot" and I vowed to consolidate next season, but then I said that at the end of last season too !!

I sooooooooooo need to do this and have every intention of sitting there one wild and wet Sunday afternoon getting everything entered on with B/F date reminders ......that's the intention anyway ......
:-\
I bought from Real Seeds. Great planting and seed saving instructions. Speedy delivery too. First class.
Thompson and Morgan have a half price seed sale, if I recall correctly it was in May last year. Sign up for their news letter and you'll be sure to get the bargains. :)
If I can set something up in project thats portable i will publish for others to use :)
Thanks Cam, I really need help
I am trying not to buy to many seeds this year as currently my seed box takes up a corner of a bedroom. But i did so enjoy growing pumpkins and squashes this year I going to see if I can buy some from USA/Canadian suppliers, they seem to have some unusual winter squash. So far i have found victoryseeds, new england seeds, seed savers and some commercial growers. But if anyone has any recommednations for seed suppliers then let me know. Thanks :D
I used alanromans last year and local garden centres along with woolys, like TG I have nearly all my seeds already, for any newbies I would recommend keeping an eye out for sales during the year and keep topping them up it saves a few bob, just keep an eye on the dates. ;D ;D ;D
Already ordered and received seeds from Real Seeds (beat the strike with second class postage paid!), Simpson's (ordered same time as real seeds, but got caught in strike) and Org gardening catalogue.
Only waiting on one more catalogue but got another month to wait for that....
I will not live long enough to use up all the seeds I've got.
Right, where's that catalogue?...
;D
I got most of my seeds ready for next season, only Spuds ,Onions and Shallots to get, and a few bits and bobs from Wilkis
I got most of my next year's seeds from T&M sale but I can still think of some seeds I need, like winter squash... ;D

Ha ha!! So very true!! What is it about seed catalogues that is sooooo tempting?
Currently have about 200 packets, and we only got our lottie in August!!
Still looking,Moles will get my `trade`order for herbs and cucumbers-but after that it`s a case of looking and thinking `what do I fancy`?
We went to an old walled garden a few weeks ago and Jen had never seen `yard long beans`-might try them this year

That's an absolutely BRILLIANT idea. I have written software to do this kind of thing and never realised that the solution was at hand.
We have a series of catalogues that go to plotholders then we put in bulk order for everybody. That we make money for the allotment society.
We also sell stuff in a shop.
I think I have enough seeds to last me 20 years ;D. I bought a huge amount in the Wyevale sale (and I still have a load from last years sale!), I've also ordered from Real Seeds for the first time (very impressed) and will have some from the Heritage Seed Library.
I only have to order my spuds and I'm done! I was thinking about ordering them from Simpsons and would be interested to know if anyone else had ordered spuds from them before.
barkingdog

Baker Creek who have rareseeds in the US are one of the best US ones,I get a lot of my squash from them and my rare beans they have a good online catalogue and their shipping prices are very low. XX Jeannine
Always been tempted by Baker Creek! nice to see you J ;D
I did get tempted by Baker Creek on Cambourne's advice and I bought several packs of beans and squashes.
I thought that the pack sizes were very reasonable and the cost was pretty low.
