Title: Boskoop Glory and Lakemont Grape
Post by: davholla on October 18, 2007, 17:40:06

Has anyone every grown either of these in or out of the greenhouse ?
I believe Lakemont is greenhouse only.
I have 2 options :-

1) In the front garden over the south facing window sill. Disadvantages a) lack of space but I might be able to squeeze it in b) Would it look silly ?
I think there could be space on the right hand side by the entrance of the house.
2) In the greenhouse in a bit of shade.

What do you think would be best ? How easy is this ? When could I get fruit ? For the whole window (over the top) do I need one or 2 vines ?

Thank you in advance.

Or what about Lakemont for the greenhouse ?

I've considered growing Lakemont outside here in Derby... if it is anyhting like as vigerous as Regent one vine would go up and over the window no problem...
you'd need to keep it pruned or you would loose all the light!
;D

I only know Bob Flowerdew regularly recommends Boskoop Glory as a good one to grow in this country. There was a bit on last week's GQT, maybe you could "listen again"

That is why I am asking after hearing last week !!
I heard it all but I did not understand exactly about the pruning.

Is one vine that vigorous ?  How long do you think it would take to go over the window ? A year ? Is the pruning difficult ?  How much soil does the vine need.
PS where did you buy yours from ?
