First year - several ripe ones eaten - now have many 1.5" -2" ones .
Will they survive the winter if fleeced?
It is unlikely they will survive. I remove all remaining figs larger than peas when the leaves drop. Leaving them on can delay or reduce the next season's crop and can also give rise to dieback.
Same here Tim... knock them off when the leaves have fallen.. the larger ones can be cooked for several green fig products...
;D
Personaly Sir I would put them in a greendouse if not in a pot the I would place them in a pot. If you put it in a pot then to might have more friut next year (plant feels threatened). Tim Personally if in a pot like my fuchsias I place in greenhouse bugs an all as grenhouse will get a blast9ing before seed time.

PS Again thanks for the garlic tip :)
Thanks - really sad, that?
I thought the ones that form just before winter are the ones you keep as they're going to have enough growing season to ripen. I'm sure I read that recently...just can't remember where. So don't knock them off yet!
Naturally, in the Middle East there would be three crops... but this far North only one will ripen and it needs to get an early start... if you could kep the temp up 5+ then those half formed ones would give you an early crop... better to start from the tiny ones which aren't killed by the frost to get a crop in August..

Our fig is in a big pot and lives unprotected all winter. It gives us a good number of figs each year and fruits more with neglect then it does with care. Just ensure it has plenty of water and feed it sparingly.
Your fig looks very happy and I would leave well alone, I have tended a fig for the last 21 years and have never removed any fruits other than ripe ones. Any that on on the tree now will come to no harm outside, some will not mature but many will. I would not protect in any way as this gives you a problem in the spring as when do you remove the fleece which will have made the growth partly softer than normal.

Saddad - do you have the recipes for the afore mentioned green fig products? Have always wanted to do something with all those little figs.
I always leave them on the tree,if you got a warm winter, you have a headstart next summer.Worked out well for me.
Not about my person Tin Shed but there are loads on the web...

I would be fascinated to see any recipes for unripe figs as I have lots of them.
Prune hard,and prune again.
