Title: Lemon tree pollination
Post by: paul-ukp on October 16, 2007, 11:12:07
If I buy one lemon tree will it pollinate OK, or does it need another one like other fruit trees do? And does anyone have any tips on what variety to buy, and maybe a recommended place to buy it? They are not cheap and I am uncertain what I would get.

Thanks

Paul

hiya, paul, we have 2 trees, a lime and a calomondine ? tree, they both seem to be self fertile, we've had mixed fruit marmalade from the fruit..I don't know the varieties as they were gifts..
we did have a lemon tree but it died off, they are now under cover for the winter and blooming and fruiting like mad  :)

you've just reminded me to bring ours in before the cold weather in a couple of days. Yes, ours friuts by itself, and put on growth at odd times of year, must get confused with the central heating. No idea what variety it is

Don't know anything about lemon trees, Paul, but I gotta book!
Seems to me a lot depends on how much space you have. One here grows up to 7m's!
Google Citrus limon and Citrus Medica.

If no joy, give me shout and I'll study me book again.
