Thinking of making some with whats left of the chillies and sending them out for chrsitmas presents
is it just as simple as putting a few whole chillies into some olive oil and leaving?
Also does anyone know where i can get hold of some nice bottles with cork stoppers?
No!!! Boil the chopped up dry chilis in vinegar then pour the oil over.
i get my bottles from http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!11087_11086 very relyable, but you should be able to get cheaper/more pretty ones if you look around
I've put chillies straight into the oil, just as I would with herbs and other things - why do you need to boil in vinegar first :-\
Everytime I've just bunged chili's, dry or fresh into oil, they go mouldy after a while! this way seems to beat this, don't know the science but It seems to work!
wow i had alwayed wondered hot to stop things going mouldy!!
thanks biscombe!!
ps - lakeland plastic have a sale on ;)
There is more on this in some earlier threads.

I did that too >:( What a waste of chillis and olive oil. I do it properly(boiling in vinegar) now and it does work ;)
