Title: Fridge door seal
Post by: caroline7758 on October 01, 2007, 19:30:51
Has anyone ever fitted one of these? I found and ordered one online but it has no instructions or fittings with it. Guess I may have to pay someone to do it, but just wondered if there are any experts out there? It's a Beko fridge, if that makes a difference. ???

Some brands have seals that are held in by screws â€" just loosen the screws, slide the old seal out, make a few adjustments and you’re finished. Some simply push into a slot around the door. Start by putting the seal in each of the four corners then push in the sides, start at a top corner and get half way down then push it up so the bottom corner lines up.
They can sometimes be tricky especially if the plastic retainer has closed up a bit, you sometimes have to use a smooth flat headed screwdriver to help it in the grooves, but be careful you don't puncture it, soaking the seal in a bucket of hot water & fairy liquid can help if it is being awkward. They always seem too large, but do shrink in time, another tip is to switch the fridge off & leave the door open until it warms up a little, so the old seal is easier to remove without breaking the brittle retainer.

That's really helpful, Baccy Man- thanks for taking the time. I'll let you know how it goes- think I might wait until OH is home at the weekend as it sounds like it might be a 2 man job!
