Needed to replace the Sage 'tree'.
Bought 2 plants - planted - 3 months later they hadn't moved.
Bought 2 plants - planted - died.
Bought 3 plants, 2 Green, 1 Purple - planted in a corner of 4'x4' raised bed wher they wouldn't interfere with other things.
Silly me?
I bought just one small sage plant back in the Spring to replace one I'd had in a pot. It has taken over a bed where I planted chives and parsley plants at the same time. Needless to say there is no sign of either any more. But the sage does look lovely and so healthy :).

Nice and healthy tim, the purple one is v pretty ;D
Strangely, it was the only one to be decimated by slugs. It seems to have recovered.
How easy is it to grow sage is it better from seed or a plant?
I plan to do it next year for my herb garden. :)
I have Magic Mountain, which I bought for it's ornamental properties, but the scent is divine. I was going to take some cuttings & overwinter them on the kitchen windowsill, but I can't find any growth that doesn't end in a flower spike - any ideas what I should do? - I'd hate to lose this to frost.
Doh! ignore me, It's a basil. :-\

easy peasy :D
Tell that to the Marines!!
Yep, silly you :D
Know the feeling, Tim.
Yet again, I fell foul of the "delicate plant, needs TLC" mantra with my Pineapple Sage, which is now 4 x 4ft, a complete delinquent, and well on its way to thuggery. ::)
It really doesn't like Frost, Amazin... if it is in the ground it could fall foul if we get a winter this year!
:-\
It 'dies off' a little in the cold weather, saddad - but it's around three years old now and it's grown bigger and better than any 'ordinary' sage - in fact it overpowered one planted beside it and saw it off completely!
Thinking of re-naming my garden: 'Thugs R Us'
;D
