I've never tried sowing late flowering annals like Zinnea's before, but inspired by Sarah Raven's catalogue I had a go this year....glad I did! I planted up one raised bed where the shallots had come out in July, mixed Sunflowers, Zinneas and Calendula......

I must confess I didn't purchase her seeds though....
Hi Deb
Arent they fab. I got some of the big flowered ones from lidl and they were a bit sluggish to start with but when they did flower, WOW. What awesome saturated and bizarre colours and they last for ages in a vase to.
Are there any sign of seeds on yours, im hoping to get seed from mine but they arent showing any signs of seed heads.
Zinnias rule!

I bought a couple of packets from eBay very cheaply, they were a 'Calafornian mix?' I think. Mine have also been slow t get going, but are now going mad! I hope to save some seeds from the very bright reds and oranges, I'm very taken with them! ;D
I meant to do the same, but never got round to it- maybe next year!
