Title: Hi I'm here!
Post by: Sarah V Bertram on June 25, 2004, 23:00:49
Finally...after much hassle, and having said on Gardening Clinic that I was giving up with A4A it has recognised me. I have a funny letter/number password at the moment, so what do I do to change that? It will be good to talk to OTGF refugees now!

Hi Sarah,

I've got the same type of password but never really need to use it as I've got A4A in my 'favourites.' I  keep it safe in my address book - just in case though.

I'm another defector from the OTGW site - but I left ages ago when the boards were getting soooo slow that my kids grew up and left home before I got to post a message on them.  ;) ;)

Hope you enjoy it over here, nice to have you 'on board.' They're a really nice bunch of folks here and I'm sure you'll fit in just fine.

Cheers, Eileen.

Sarah V? Sounds American.

A letter/number password is more secure? You're less likely to mumble it in your sleep!!
But don't lose it - I've been locked out at least 3 times for one reason or another, and had to apply to Dan for another password. Especially frustrating when you've just said something on the board that you want to change quickly. = Tim

If you click on the word Profile, just under the second L of Allotments4All, it takes you to the information you entered when you joined. You may change your Password to a more memorable one there. You will need your original password to do so. I have never tried doing this so cannot guarantee that it will not cause problems. You may also change any of your details too.

Not a problem changing password as I have changed mine.

I actually registered a while back, but unfortunately the password i was given didnt work! I did the neccesary steps to get a replacement sent to me and nothing came of it so i ended up re-registering with an auxilary e-mail account i have (but dont ever use) and hey presto-it worked.
The password their computer generates for you dont make any sense and would have to be Bill Gates to remember it so i changed it in the section "profiles" at the top of page to something which i would never forget. :D

This is a much more relaxed site with many more different sections!

Steve.

Hi Sarah...always meant to ask about your appearance on Gardeners World, when Monty came to your garden. Did you have to rehearse the moves.Do tell more.

Welcome.  Looks like the Beeb site has virtually died now.  This one is much better.

Hi Ken. No we didn't rehearse the moves. There were no lines or autocues.  Sometimes you had to do things at a certain speed or angle so the camera could get the shot, but it was generally very spontaneous. They knew what they wanted to film on each occasion, and Monty was briefed, but I wasn't, and we just talked! We did have to repeat things for different camera angles and things like that, so you did have to remember what you'd said, and repeat your spontaneity as best you could, but the producer reminded you, and which foot you had where and where they wanted to go from etc.

It was a wonderful and exhausting experience, but it is quite a relief in some ways to have the veg garden to myself now. I didn't ask them to come... they sort of found me, but once I was fairly sure what they wanted, and felt that I could do it I agreed.

The veg garden is great this year too, and it's nice to look back at the filming from last year to see how much things have grown and changed since then. I was very lucky to have had such an experience, and tuition from the best in the land, but I'm still learning, reading, trying things out - it's a lifelong passion. The rest of the garden non-veg has also progressed, as my confidence and knowledge has increased.  Hope your garden is doing well this season. I'm off now to cut the first courgettes for a courgette and pasta recipe for lunch - yum!

Little note to Tim: I'm not American, I was desperately trying different ways of getting A4A to recognise my registration, and using the middle initial was merely one of the permutations I tried!
