Allotments 4 All

Has anyone grown these? 

We finally have some fruit on the Calliopes aubergines - round and white with purple splashes - but how  do you know when the fruit are ripe?

I read that they are ready at 4 inches long -thats when I've picked and used mine anyhow.  ;D

Were they still quite white?

nicely striped with lilac on outside - white inside.....
