Title: Peasgood's Nonsuch - our first apples (proud)
Post by: Melbourne12 on September 22, 2007, 11:27:22
Sorry, this is a bit of a show-off thread.  We've just picked our first apples from the lottie.  Peasgood's Nonsuch, which is not only a wonderful name, but a delicious apple.  We planted 2 year old trees last year, and we've allowed just a few apples to grow on each of them.

There's a sort of childish delight about picking and eating your first apples.  ;D

And have you noticed that the flesh turns brown almost immediately you cut them open, unlike bought apples which stay white until they rot?
Believe me, the feeling does not go away even when you have been picking your own grown apples for 30 or more years.

Oooh that takes me back Melbourne, more years than I care to remember, but dad had a tree in his orchard, and they were my favourite eater.  I think they were then classed as a dual eater/cooker, but I loved them as an eater.

I'm really envious.  I'm off down memory lane for a drool.  They really do have a good crisp, sharp taste.
