Title: Grey water
Post by: davholla on September 18, 2007, 20:16:43
Sorry if this is not the right forum but it is hard to find the right place.

I live in London, in my front garden there are (or will be) Gooseberries, white currants, a privet hedge, tayberries and japanese wineberries.

Next door have an ash tree 3 m from our front  wall, which according to this is to close.

Anyway my idea is to conect occassionally the water that flows from our dishwasher / washing machine and put in the front garden.  Would this be a bad idea for the plants ?

Don't think you should put detergent filled water straight onto the plants, there needs to be some sort of filtering system. This link shows some basics on the front page, and theres more info within the site if you click on the links:

And this link shows more basic methods:

Would be very interested to see pics if you do succeed in building a system.
