Title: Resistant brassica
Post by: Froglegs on September 17, 2007, 13:17:00
As anybody grow Kilaton cabbage this year? and does it live up to the claim of being resistant to club root, because Thompson & Morgan have got a new resistant cauliflower called Clapton F1 in there warding gardens catalogue, and as i have got CR on my plot just wondered if it would worth giving them both a bash. :-\

crop rotation will get rid of club root in time - older folk say that laying rhubarb down can help eliminate it (the oxalic acid content?)

t&m are so expensive and F1 hybrids are even more expensive and make such big claims - I would be wary and choose a cabbage for other qualities, but that's just my opinion  :D

T&M...................Clapton F1 Cabbage seed £3.49p for 20 seed
Moles seeds......Clapton F1 Cabbage seed £9.65p for 100 seed
That works out at £1.93p for 20 seed, a bit of a saving in my book  ;) ;)

I know 100 seed is a lot but how about clubbing together with friends and splitting the cost.
they also state that the cauli and cabbage is club resistance not Resistant
