Go to Robin Hood's Bay
Buy Whitby Lucky Ducks in the local glass-blowing shop!
Visit Captain Cook's museum
Go up the lighthouse
Eat fancy food in a fish restaurant
Eat fish and chips from The Magpie
Paddle in the sea
Stay in the coolest B&B EVER
AAAAAAAAAAAND Something I've always wanted to do since my yoof ....
METAL DETECTING Just bought Alf a junior metal detector ;D
Can you tell I'm excited!!!!! Can ya? Can ya? ;D
Any suggestions about what to do in the area (or on the way back from Whitby to Nottingham) would be very much appreciated!
Love Trix XXXXXXX ;D
hope you both have a brilliant time but I reckon you will anyway..give us a wave as you go up the motorway, we've never been to whitby, going to scarborough next year
I used to love rockpooling with the kids, don't know what the creatures in the pools thought ::)
I've got a metal detector, keep forgetting to take it, and it takes soooo many batteries ;D
enjoy yourself, Trixie, you'll be missed :)
wow i am sure you will love it!!
I used to be able to go there every weekend and i do miss the freshly caught skate (must better than the farmed stuff) and the views.
Sounds like you've got just about everything on your list! My son & girlfriend are camping near RH Bay this weekend so will ask if they've discovered anything new!And on the way there or back, I'd highly recommend the Yorkshire Sculpture Park- not far off the motorway and it's free!
Hope you and Alfie (I do love that name :)) have a wonderful time.
Lorna.
Fantastic place, they have some great ghost walks and if you had gone a few weeks ago you would have had all the entertainment from the best folk festival in England.
Makes me think I will book it up for next year.
oooo Trixie, which w/e are you going ? me and OH are there next w/e visiting the folks ...
I'd give the Magpie a miss ... it's for tourists ;D What about a ghostwalk ! If you have time (highly unlikely looking at your list) you could go boating at Ruswarp and see if you can spot the seals.
This is spooky, my son is also staying at Robin Hood bay with his school friend in their family caravan until Monday am (coming home early for school!)
If you see a hyperactive skinny blonde 10 year old boy racing around the sands, that will be him..... ::)
Green with envy sounds like ya in for a goooood time ma duck, just love R H Bay,hope you take lots a snaps especially if ya go on a ghost walk. :o
I'm so excited about it - especially the metal detector!
FROGLEGS: I'll take lots of snaps, no fear! But I'm not quite sure what I'll capture on 'digital' during the ghost walk!
Probably the back-end of Alfie legging it down the high street scared shiteless!
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY WANT TO FIND SOME DINOSAUR BONES ;D
Maybe I should take some bigger carrier bags just in case?
sounds like you need rubble bags, not carriers, trixie..when do you go ?..hope the weather keeps up, take summat warm, it's getting nippy up 'ere ;D
Sounds like great fun Trixie! I hope you have a super time ;D!
Be careful with that MD Trixie.... Whitby was shelled in the first world war...
;D
SADDAD!!!!! :o
One MORE thing to be paranoid about!
I'm already wondering how many metres away from a cliff-face I need to be to avoid rockfalls & doing a risk assessment of going on a half hour boat trip round the bay ;D
;D ::)
I think I need holiday insurance .... I'm off to phone up ;D
We went to Whitby last month for a few days and had a fantastic time. Sounds like you've got it all planned! The Dracula experience is interesting :P (the scariest bit for us was the walking round in the dark and the life actor jumping out on us!). Magpie cafe - go the takeaway, its quicker and just the same chips wise. The boats round the harbour are good too. We did the captain cook one. A nice little beach nearby with some cool looking cliffs - Sandsend. What about the abbey (we were miseries and wouldn't pay to get in and lazy and wouldn't walk up the steps up there but it was good to walk round the outside and to see the views!)?
Hope you have a fab time. I'm jealous! ;D
We went to place next to the Magpie before you get to it. That was really good. We didn't know about the Magpie but the one we went to was busier so we thought as it was popular it must be good.
