Hi,
I have implemented a spoiler tag on the forum,
This means you can now hide text, like this
[spoiler]This is the hidden text[/spoiler]
Can be useful to not give away plot twists from films / tv shows, the end of jokes and other things.
To use it, either use spoiler tags in your message much as you would use img tags, or highlight the text when typing a message and click the
(http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/Themes/classic/images/bbc/spoiler.gif)
button.
Cheers
Dan
Clever stuff!
[spoiler]Just trying it out.[/spoiler]
Oops that wasn't too successful! [spoiler]How about this time?[/spoiler]
What am I doing wrong then?
It is working on my screen ...
[spoiler]The butler did it[/spoiler]
And I've tried it on a normal non - admin account and it works ....
Have you changed you Theme at all?
Didn't know I had one Dan! :-[
Hmmm ...

Do you see quotes in a box or do they appear as normal text?
This [spoiler]appears to be spoilt[/spoiler]
great stuff dan :-)
[spoiler]The sp button does not have a little clicky tile like all the other buttons. Also the text I am inserting between the "spoiler in bracket" bits is not in a box. It appears like normal text.[/spoiler] (if that's what you meant. ???
No, let me try to explain.
When someone is quoted, the quoted text appears in a little black box all on it's own.
The spoiler text should appear in the same type of box.
This is when you read a thread, not when you post a new message.
Could you take a screen shot of the thread display, and email it to me?
[spoiler]Also just having a go.....[/spoiler]
I must be being very stupid today, what part am I supposed to hi-lite in Dan's original message, and do I just hi-lite with left mouse, or do I need to click it afterwards? ???
I'll try putting a spoiler of my own:
[spoiler]It's my 40th birthday in January![/spoiler]
[spoiler]everybody seems to be getting the hang of it but am iprink13life begins then you know mine did
marg[/spoiler]
[spoiler]Useful for the punchline at the end of a joke - instead of having to scroll down![/spoiler]
OK, now I'm really confused ???
When I read the last post from Grandma, there's nothing hidden, I simply see the whole thing as:

I presume that the line under the word Spoiler, is supposed to be hidden, it's not, none of them are!! Is this because someone has "Spoilt" it, so therefore I can read it?
Kathi
I don't understand a word of it either. ::)

I am following this, and thank Dan for his ingenuity !!!
I think some members are not benefitting from the feature, perhaps for some obscure technical reason. What I see is a purple (lilac?) box, which appears blank, until I highlight it using my mouse, then the text appears ...
Thanks Curry, so for some technical reason, I just see the usual text! >:(
I thought there was something funny going on - probablly due to being AOL user again
Kathi
Just logged on via Internet Explorer, not AOL, and I now get the mauve box, which when hi-lited shows the invisible text :D
So, Dan, I can only presume that it's another AOL problem :-[
But in non-AOL mode - it's great - thanks ;D
Kathi
I was beginning to think along those lines, but not being an AOL user, couldn't make any significant comments ... glad you now have it working ok anyway prink :)
I've tried it on Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, and Safari - but not AOL!
I'll ask around and see if any more clever bods than me have any ideas about why AOL might not work.
Very bizzare.
Dan
Sorry to be a pain Dan, but everything looks normal to me and as if people are just typing. I can see the text underneath the 'spoiler (highlight to read)' as if it was just typed there.
I also don't have an SP button...??
I changed my theme from the blue/white to blue/lighter blue recently but, after lunching a glass of wine on the laptop and having it repaired by Toshiba, I can't change the theme as they all look the same.
WAAAH!! I want the other theme back!!
Theme changed, let me know if that helps with the spoilers ....
Oooooh I get it, very clever Dan! I've absolutely no idea when it'll come in useful, but i'm sure it might, one of these days... :D
[spoiler]Testing, testing, 1,2![/spoiler]
Nope, still not working for me, Dan. I will send you a pdf'd screenshot by email.....

OOOOOOH! I changed the profile back to the forum default and now it's working! Yay!
Thanks Dan!
[spoiler]Testing, testing..........over. [/spoiler]
Good, aint it!!!
Well I haven't changed my theme, I'm not with AOL, I use Mozilla Firefosx and it doesn't work. But[spoiler]When I use IE it is just as described.[/spoiler]
What is the difference between a cat and a comma?
No, don't scroll down for the answer - just highlight the text in the mauve box ;) ;)
[spoiler]One has claws at the end of its paws and the other is a pause at the end of a clause[/spoiler]
Hehehehe I hope it works ;D ;D ;D
[spoiler]I'm with AOL and it's working fine for me - I can see the blank purple box then highlight it to read[/spoiler]
LOL! Very witty asben! ;D
[spoiler]I'm on AOL and it's working for me too now. G x[/spoiler]
Well it doesn't work when I use Firefox, only IE. Yuck!
I only use Firefox. What's IE ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
i'll be [spoiler]21 again ;D[/spoiler] on my next birthday
Internet explorer
I use Firefox and it works for me.
bizarre! ???
I use a mixture of many browsers, and it works in all of them!
The only thinkg I can think is that you have a firefox extension installed which is blocking the feature in some way.
Which (if any) extensions do you have?
[spoiler]I was thinking about having hair extensions[/spoiler]
[spoiler]where are you thinking of having them, trixie ?[/spoiler]

Showcase, Skype and Talkback
I thought it was working for you asbean, is it not?
Absolutely no problems. I steer away from the likes of AOL and Internet Explorer. ;D ;D ;D
[spoiler]it works now....... ??? ???[/spoiler]
