Can any one help I have Mildue on my onions which has been treated with Copper fungicide which has had no effect. Does anyone out there know how to treat it ?? Organicly if poss. Will it effect the onions?? Do I lift and burn ?? Any info appreciated.
Regards
Alan
Assuming it 's mildew on the leaves, it's strange to find it after such a dry spell.
Clear out any dead stuff & weeds, to keep things airy. Mancozeb & the like is the RHS recommendation. Yes, can affect size.
Check HDRA's advice. If you are not a member, I could mail you a print-out. = Tim
A 10% milk solution has been recommended by others here. I use bicarbonate of soda (3tbs in a gallon of water, with a little dishwashing liquid as a spreader) which is completely effective.
Tim, powdery mildew only proliferates in hot, dry conditions.
Useful tips - noted.
No argument, John - just a RHS quote giving warm, moist conditions as contributory to both powdery & downy mildew. I think I'll opt out. And try to avoid it!!= Tim
John & Tim ,Many thanks for your replies .
i'll try the bicarb thing first. Tim could you als send me the HDRA's print out it would be interesting to read.
One again
Cheers
Alan
I had assumed downy mildew - never assume!!
Anyway check your mail for my offerings. = Tim
PS I note that potassium bicarb is also used as a fungicide - for onions??
Any chance of a photo on the problem, Y?
