Going to Cornwall in August and hoping to visit The Eden Project whilst I'm there. Has anyone been there and does anyone have any recommendations of what to see first? I may not be able to see the whole thing as I'm half expecting one or both of my little rascals to get tired part way through so don't want to miss anything that is a must see.
I went to the Eden Project last summer Jess, and I can highly reccomend it. I couldn't really say that any bits were missable really, although you could probably go around quickly.
My favourite bits were the cork trees, the tobacco plants, the rice growing in glass squares, the papyrus plants, and the coffee plants, interesting to know what all these things look like as plants before the end product.
Hi Jess - We went to the Eden Project a couple of years ago and it was absolutely fab :D In my opinion the tropical biome is definitely not to be missed, especially if you can climb right to the top. They even have stop-off points so that you can take a cool breather if the weather is hot and it all gets a bit too much for you.
The whole place is great so the more you can see the better (although I found the shop a tad expensive :o). I think they are adding bits to it all the time, so it is probably better now then when we went.
Enjoy it, and let us know all about it when you get back - even piccies if you can manage it :) :)
By the way as far as your children getting tired, you can always go out and come back in again as they give you stickers to wear on your coat so you can come and go.

HI all,
We've just got back from a lovely week in Cornwall. Unfortunately could not do Eden this time, particularly as we had the dog with us, but visited Trelissick and Trebah. Trebah was the dog friendly substitute for Heligan, and very impressive.
Whatever you do, Jess, have a great time! Clx
CL - we took our two dogs with us - in fact they did us a favour really as we were able to go to the dog friendly car park which was right down the bottom of the hill near the entrance. We took it in turns to go round the Project and came back to the car park to have our lunch etc.
I notice you say that that Heligan is not dog friendly which is a pity as that was next on my list to visit when we go to Cornwall. Trebah is absolutely lovely isn't it?
Pat
Pat, next time we go to Cornwall, we can leave the dog at 'home' where we stay, but this time we didn't forward plan enough. She stayed at home when we went to Trelissick though
It was SO lovely at Trebah though, and they were terrifically welcoming to dogs, even providing a Trebah 'poop scoop'!
Our problem is that Lurcher always manages to set off the car alarm!
Love CLx
Jesseveve - have you looked at the 'virtual garden'? = Tim
Hey Tim, thanks for that suggestion. I had a quick look (will take a better look later when I'm not working). I didn't realise so much was outside. The Tropical biome looks very interesting, but then so does everything else too. It will be interesting to see how they use plants to make things. I think the kids will really enjoy seeing that too. Trebah is definitely something else on my list of "to see", I definitely want to see the huge gunnera plants, I have some in my garden but they are tiny by comparison. Just hope the weather is better than what we are having today.... rain, strong winds, like autumn or even winter at the moment!
I go once a year and whenever they do certain events that interest me, this is because I'm a friend of Eden. I never seem to to get bored of the place and is highly recommended. If you can, go on a Monday or a Friday as these are their less busiest day. It's upto you but don't rush to the biomes. There is a quick route and a slow route to the biomes. Take the slow, twisty route to the bottom and enjoy the rest of the plants then see the biomes. That way you can relax and take the land train back up to the top. Easier down than up, in my opinion. As for the shop yes very expensive but you have to remember at the moment they are running a no profit site and they are saving up for a new biome.
