Title: Japanese wineberry

I planted this in March but no fruit.  Any ideas why ?

Fruits are produced on second year wood.

Yes you should be picking ripe wineberries next August.
They usually support themselves ok like rapberries do but if they are in an exposed position they may need suport.

My malling jewel raspberries seem to need loads of support but autumn bliss do not although they are lot smaller.
