Title: Frothy water in my butt!
Post by: SnooziSuzi on August 31, 2007, 08:45:59
Have put this in aquatic as it's water related but not related...

I have bought and installed my new green water butt, but the water comes out slightly green and frothy.

It only has rainwater in, and the rain water is coming from the shed roof (roof felt lined).  There is no opportunity for algae to grow as the butt is dark green with a black tight lid and no light can get into it.

Q1)  Is the frothy water a sign of anything adverse?

Q2)  Is there anything I can do about it?

the only thing I can think of is that I didn't wash it out before I installed it.  Was I supposed to?

I think the proper term for "frothy water in my butt" is
"colonic irrigation".  ;D

I had the same problem - I think it is because they perhaps use a detergent to clean the waterbutt when it has been mounded. When mine was emptied in the summer (I even ran out of water in the West of Scotland!) I rinsed it out with plenty of tap water and that seemed to do the trick!

I think you might be right, W&C.  Since the butts filled up with water we had over summer it's not so much of a problem, so it might have been a concentration of whatever they used but that it's being diluted :)
