Title: Pride before a fall??
Post by: tim on August 28, 2007, 18:28:20
SO pleased the other day that we have, hopefully, white rot free leeks.

Hoeing today I see - yes - RUST. You just can't win!!

eeeek! Can you get rust on leeks? mine seem nice for now...at least the colour, but there is always something...
I was horrified to see yesterday that my leek bed has turned into a  snail hotel! They are hiding inside the leeks themselves. I got the kids to pull them out and squash them (they love ghastly jobs like that) but is there a better way? Organically???

I managed to decapitate a couple of leeks yesterday whilst hoeing.   :'(

No rust though.  ;D

That's what I thought, Richard - until I was hoeing!

Nice succession you have there.

Just seen that a cause can be excess N. I had recently fed with N.

And too humid. I had recently watered twice!

Antipodes... getting the kids to pick them off and squash them is the best practice organic way for dealing with snails...
;D
