I went to Sissinghurst Castle Gardens yesterday and saw a few plant that I do not recognise. I knew that someone here would be able to help.

All I can tell you about this one was it's name began with an A (possibly a Y next) and seemed unpronounceable

These two I believe are the same plant, just different varieties. They seem almost orchid-like.

This is a close up of the first of these.

These are the most amazing seed pods, almost translucent and they appeared to have one big black seed in each pod.

This was an Ipomea of some sort. I should have photographed the labels that were sometimes found beneath the plants. I'll know next time. ::) ::)
The only one I think I know is the second picture, and that is a variety of Eucomis.
The last picture looks familiar, but can't remember what it is.
valmarg
The last one is Mina Lobata... although I think it has a newer name!
Have grown that one..
;D
I agree with Valmarg, the second one is a Pineapple Lily (or Eucomis), grown from bulbs. They are supposed to be a bit tender, but mine survived for a few years in a large pot.
The first one looks a bit similar to the one outside our back door. After seeing your picture I checked ours and the petals also go in a spiral overlap and the leaves look the same. It flowers all year round but.........................
.................we don't know what it is either :) Some have suggested hibiscus but the spiky bit in the middle (stamen?) is too restrained others have suggested a geranium relative. I'm planning to harvest some seeds over the next few months. If you PM me in about 10 weeks time I may a few to spare.
Here's a zoomed up crop of it - is the same?
possibly an Abutilon ???
The flowers are similar but the leaves completely different to Abutilon. Any other guesses?
