Title: Ladybird House
Post by: Mubgrub on June 21, 2004, 13:54:33
I was thinking about getting one of those ladybird houses for my allotment to help keep aphides under controll when I really get going.  However the ones I've seen are a wee bit expensive. Has anyone used one?  Is it worth the expense? I want to keep organic as much as poss. ???

You can make one yourself. But I've forgotten which one is the ladybird house. (there's one where you roll up corregated card and put it in a plastic bottle with the bottom cut out and hang that up somewhere - but I think that might be for overwintering lacewings - also helpful!)

And leave a patch of stinging nettles for the ladybirds. Cut it back before it sets seed and you've got a fantastic plant food as well!
