Here is the progress of my tomatoes.
Seems some of the Tigarellas have got a black spot on the bottom of them. Not too sure what it is but most of them look fine.

I have been picking "Sungolds" for quite a while now and they are still growing strong.

The Alicante are doing well and started to ripen. Odd shape on the first batch though. But the second plant is looking really good.

Here are a few I picked. The "Black Cherry" tomatoes are really nice, not as sweet as the "Sungolds" but cool looking colour.

Wish I had as many which were ripe. Haven't had a ripe tomato to pick this week Hopefully the sunshine will help today.

WOW!! they lok great!! the black spot sounds like blossom end rot, this is due to irregular watering, some varieties are more prone than others!
Looking good Chris, I had a greenhouse full of tomatoes - by the next week I had a greenhouse full of brown twigs! I've only got three tomatoes at the moment....sniff :(
Bear in mind that blossom end rot usually only comes with the first tomatoes, then those higher uo and later in the season are usually OK. XX Jeannine

gosh i am really jealous! Most of my plants died, boo hoo, we have had nearly 3 months continuous bad weather here. But yesterday I went to take stock and found that some had taken off again and that I did have some flowers and some green fruit so I have trussed them all up neatly on their stakes and weeded round to keep them dry and warm in what little sun there is. Perhpas I will get enough for a bit of salad. But all my hopes of spaghetti sauce, salsa, caramelised cherry tomatoes well they are down the bog ..BOO HOO!!
Looks great! I'm growing Black Cherry too and I think the colour is very unusual, a bit different from other black tomatoes.
My plants were struck by blight but they are still producing ripe tomatoes. I'm surprised how resilient tomato plants are.
Same here Tora... loads of toms when was certain they would all keel over at the start of the month! Even some Sub arctic outdoor are recovering and flowering well..

I picked a basin full today. Funnily enough, the yellows are ripening really quickly where the reds are much slower off the mark.

I had picked over 2lb of tomatoes end of last week, i washed them and got ready to make green tomato chutney but with one thing and another i have only now got around to it.
The odd, thing was that some of the tomatos ( i have left them in the sun ) look burnt!!
I hope there ok and the chutney will be ok, i cut the damage off and the fruit looks fine inside.
Wish mine had changed colour great crop chris.

Cam, they haven't got blight, have they? I cut the bits out of mine and made GT chut and pasta sauce from the ripe ones too. ;)

I am not sure, the plant was ok, and the fruits only got the marks after a couple of days and not all the tomatos.
If it is blight is the chutney ok?

Mine is good, take a close look at your plants, though.
....have googled the photos of the fruit and its definatly late blight (poo) i am going to pick up some black sacks and rip up everything and bin it.
I still dont get why the fruit did not look affected for a couple of days.
I have also planted 6 more tomato plants in the same bed (although the other end) do you think these will be affected???
Lucky enough i still have a tray of tomato seedlings i am nursing for the greenhouse which might be ok as there no where near this lot of tomatoes.
From what i read it seams that as long as i cut the brown off they should be ok to eat which is what i did, but i am not going to uncross my fingers :(
Before you bin it and burn it, can't you cut off the affected bits and spray with Murphy's or similar? This is what I did, and all was not lost. If you do have to bin it all,you can pick off all the unaffected fruit and store it to ripen or use green. Some of mine went on a tray under the spare bed and I checked it every day, using the ripening fruit for pasta sauce along with the good fruit, the rest I made GTchutney with.

Hi Guys,
The minute i walked to the plot today i knew something was wrong, all 20 plants were black the leaves withered. They were 100% fine on saturday :'(
I have pulled the lot up and there in the wheelbarrow to come back home tomorrow, one of the new plants closest to the others looks affected so i have pulled that as well.
I am going to rake the top soil off tomorrow and bin that as well i have a bag of clean soil i am going to use on the other new plants with hope that i have removed the bacteria.
Because of all this polava i only got 2 of my 9 rasied beds screwed together!!

Just picked some more black cherry toms this morning. Are the Sungold a better allround flavour Chris? I'm on the hunt for the most prolific, blight resistant tom with the sweetest flavour. ;D
All my toms have been late ripening this year - with the exception of Totem, which seems to have shrugged off deluges, high winds and the odd scorcher. Will def. grow them again next year. Sungold sounds interesting Chris.

Well i'm not sure. Sungold taste amazing but I like Black Cherry too. Black Cherry is not as sweet but thats not a bad thing. Both great though!

Just tasted 1st orange banana, that was a dissapointment ::),a bit woolly and not as flavoursome as it looks, so I'll cross that off then....

While Black cherry produced a huge crop for me, I find the flavour not a patch on Sungold. Black cherry is also about 3 weeks later and has been slightly affected by Blight.
Ripped all mine out the lottie yesterday, covered in blight, but garden ones seem OK so far, I shouldn't have said that. ??? ;D ;D ;D

Emaggie - never judge a variety on one fruit. You may have several in a row that are unimpressive - possibly due to treatment at the time.
Then I shall carry on eating them Tim. There are some lovely fruits on the plant.
Tried Green Grape today, they were beautiful.
Tomatos here in Glasgow have been useless due to our non summer up here.
We have what might be called creeping blight - it moves very slowly, so it's a race between the fruit ripening and getting blighted.
The infection sets in either in the leaves and then spreads to the stem, or the stem itself, usually where the plants outer skin has been rubbed or weakened.
Good Resistance: Shirley F1, Sungold, Gartenperle, an Italian plum (Follia F1) Idyll and Gruschovska
Fairly good resistance: Ailsa Craig, and my (late planted) Japanese Trifele .
Not good resistance: Santa F1, NectarF1, Juliet F1; Costoluto, Latah
Wipe out: Black Russian
New growth seems unaffected at the moment, but I expect the infection will continue to travel upwards.
Same here. We've managed to get quite a lot of fruit ripened (even some beefsteak ones), but don't hold out much hope for the topmost trusses.
Sungold has stood up quite well, so has Harlequin F1.
Shirl I suppose the Shirley Toms are sweet but a bit fruity, sorry Tony. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :-*
