Title: Well, that was a real let down.
Post by: tim on August 23, 2007, 17:42:58
Decided to use a small pot of Brisures de Truffes that I was given, in a pasta dish today. Must have cost the earth.

Opened, smelt, tasted - absolutely no discernible scent or flavour. Just rather gritty.

Ended up adding some time expired Carluccio Truffle Oil - really fragrant & worthwhile!

Sorry to hear that Tim. Always worse when you've been anticipating something.

I've had similar disappointments and find that most truffle products don't keep their aroma very long. Truffle oil perhaps 2 years - even  if unopened.

Less than  year old - vacuum jar - wonder wther it had any flavour when bottled!

Makes one wonder what they put in the oil??

Don't think I want to speculate on that one - ignorance is bliss :)
