Title: butternut and buttercup squash
Post by: shirlton on August 21, 2007, 17:26:13
I really need some help with these squash cos they are sending out runners everywhere. Do I have to take some of the runners off and just leave a couple. There are lots of fruit on them but they are gonna take over the bloomin plot

tee hee ... they do  :o ;D

I would think that if the fruit are well on their way to producing good sized keepers, and there is no chance that they will perish / fall off / rot then you could nip out the ends of the runners to put the energy into the growing of the fruit.

Tip:   Place fruit onto tiles or bricks to raise them off the wet soil, the warmth from the brick will also help to ripen them  ;)
