Title: Bramley Windfalls
Post by: aob9 on August 19, 2007, 16:30:43
Although Bramleys are not due to ripen until October, the weather ( wind ) is knocking a few from my trees. Are these okay for cooking now or would they be too immature and destined to the compst heap?????

don't know what type of apples mine are but they are big enough to be cooking apples. we have used some of our windfalls for an apple sponge and also for apple sauce. if anybody can tell me what type mine look like I would be grateful. there are photo's on my blog.

Might make a good base for chilli jelly since involves cooking with sugar and the pectin will be there.
