I live in South London and have a south facing small front garden and a not a big north facing back garden.
I want to grow the following :-
Gooseberries (more than one some eg langley gage susceptible to american mildew).
Blackcurrants
Tayberries
White currants
My question is which should be in the sun and which in the shade ? Also which would could in containers.
I guess that Tayberries really need sun and can not be in a container.
In addition could anyone of them cause subsidence ?
I think all the bushes should be OK in shade unless it's really dark all day. I'd rather have them out the back away from road fumes myself but it probably doesn't matter too much. Containerwise you could but must be better in the ground.
As for subsidence if any of them caused my house to fall down I'd have already made a fortune with my gigantic fruit growing formula and moved out somewhere else.
