Title: Is there anything I can sow now?
Post by: TomaC on August 15, 2007, 11:26:20
Apart from carrots?! I'm starting to realise my allotment patch is going to look really barren come October and knowing meI'll probabley give up on it if I don't have an active reason to go down there over winter

i'm browsing the Thompson & Morgan site trying to find any goodies that i can sow now that's in their 3 day half price vegetable sale (ends tonight/tomorrow) - but everything's sow time seems to be no later than June.....is there any winter veg I can get that I can sow now?

Savoy cabbage for late winter, Some varieties of lettuce for end of Sept/Oct, Possibly a sowing of late peas (Kelvedon wonder)

If you ask around on your site, you may find somebody has spare plug plants of cabbages, swede, cauliflowers. I was late sowing and bought over 60 plug plants from our site nursery at under £4.

I am going to try some parsnips (just pre-germinating at the mo), carrots, potatoes, winter cabbage and swede. You can only try!
